Anyway this week has gone by so fast, its so weird the days feel like forever and the weeks go by so fast it doesn't make any sense. It feels like the mission work has gone by a little slower this week to, I think its because of the holidays and not many people want to be bothered. But Elder Harker and I have been improving our teaching skills so the work is still moving forward. Although we may not be able to teach everyone we meet we are prepared to teach those who will listen and have been prepared for us by the spirit.
Monday was a good day we woke up and did our morning exercises and then prepared for the day, after wards we had our personal study and companion study. I have been working on rereading the Book of Mormon in my personal study, at least a chapter or three a day. I am almost to second Nephi, and I amazed by how many things I have learned from rereading. In our companion study we did some role playing activities were we worked on asking inspired questions. We left our apartment after training and headed to the public library so we could do our one hour of email for the day. After that we did some downtown contacting and met a homeless Jehovah witness at a buss stop who called me over and started to preach to me he gave me a little memorized prayer, which I thought was very strange. I tried to politely decline the offer but he just went on preaching, I attempted to share my knowledge with him but he was clearly uninterested and he continued to preach to me. I eventually thanked him for his time and departed. Elder Harker was laughing at me the whole way to our next appointment. he told me that his last companion attempted the same thing and that the homeless man would preach to everyone he met at the buss stop and say the same exact things over and over. We then rode around on our bikes and stopped by some former Investigators and potential investigators to see how they were doing not many of them answered but we were able to have nice conversations with those who did.
Tuesday we had our district meeting and our zone leaders Elder Kadelka and Elder Manoa taught us some ways that we could more effectively plan, during the half hour of planing time we get each night. After district meeting Elder Harker and I went on another exchange with The Kasson Elders, Elder Thomas and Elder Willson. Last exchange I went with Elder Willson but this exchange I went with Elder Thomas, and we basically blitzed the area. For dinner Elder Thomas and I ate with a wonderful Evangelical family, I wont say that I had a good time and I wont say that I had a bad time, but it was interesting none the less. I have to say that it was one of the longest nights of my life they wouldn't even let us have a word in the conversation and they would twist and bend everything we said. The whole time they were talking to us all I could hear from them was "A Bible A Bible we have a Bible and we need no more Bible." It was a very interesting night we were in that home from 5:00 to curfew which is supposed to be at 9:00 but you can go to 9:30 if your with an investigator.
Wednesday Elder Harker and I returned home to our area so that we could get some work done, we did some of the same things that we did Monday mainly finding and contacting former and potential investigators. That night we had dinner with the wonderful Wilson family Mike and Nelafar and the two sons I know one of their names is Armon but I can't remember the other. Any way Nelafar who is a convert from Iran brought her father and grandmother with her to dinner, her grandmother is a supper awesome cook and is also Muslim. Sadly we couldn't teach her because she only speaks Farsi, but she's awesome none the less. Mike had his parents from Washington over, they are also real nice and converts to the church.
Thursday was one of my favorite days so far. We got to sit around and play board games and watch church movies till two. Then we went to the Graybill families home for dinner were we met a supper nice guy named Jeremy who is a legit bow hunter and fisher, who loves the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt. One of the Graybill's daughters invited him over and we had a supper fun time getting to know him. We then had one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I have ever had, because Sister Graybill is attending a culinary school and is working on getting a job in culinary arts. It wasn't as good as a home thanks giving manly because there wasn't any smoked turkey.
We spent our Friday and Saturday trying to recover this crazy week but turns out that everyone else in town was also trying to recover too so we didn't teach very much and those we taught were very receptive of our message and we got some return appointments.
Sunday we heard some aw some testimony and had a real great time with the priest quorum. However I am waiting for the day when some angry catholic minister comes bursting through the doors, because our church is right next to a catholic church and a none denominational church. We'll have to wait and see.
Love you all
Sincerely
