January Thaw

YES I have survived one of the coldest winters of my life, and the natives tell me that this winter was the coldest winter that they have had in quite some time. Everyone tells me it wont get to much colder from here on out so I'm not expecting to get grounded anymore. Hopefully the people don't change with the weather.

Some of the Highlights of this week, well more like the past two weeks, have been reading letters from my family, going to district meeting and going on exchanges, and having an awesome district lunch.

Monday was terrible It was so cold that wished I did have anti-freeze for blood we sat around for the most part of the day studying and making lesson planes and then we playing air hockey for a while till we got board. When we finished our regular Pday shenanigans we got an inspired idea from President Clements, he suggested that we have lessons with people over the phone. So we gave it a try and it was supper awesome. This experience made me think about Jeremiah when he talks about Hunters. So even though we were stuck inside we got to do some ice fishing for investigators.

Tuesday we were only grounded till noon and then we went and did some more hunting. It felt so good to get out of the house and into the world. We got to leave the house a little earlier than noon so we could meet Bro. Andrewsen for a correlation meeting we talked about some of the people we had met throughout the previous week. When we had finished Bro. Andrewsen invited us to his home for dinner and we had a wonderful time with him and his wife and I got to give my account of Capetian Moroni and the title of liberty.

Wednesday Elder Allen and I got to go to District meeting here In Brainerd. The main focus of our meeting was on church attendance. Elder Allen and I got to give a training on why it is important for our investigators to attend a church service and seek Revelation. In D&C Section 88 we are commanded by the Lord to organize ourselves and to prepare every needful thing and to establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith,a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God. This scripture was one of the main focuses of our district meeting. After our district meeting we went to Perkins for lunch where we visited and talked about some of the people in our areas. When the time came to order Elder and Sis Judd our senior couple told us that they would pay for our lunch. Nevertheless I thought it best not to pick the most expensive thing on the menu. After lunch the Judd's came to our apartment and inspected it for us they told us that everything looked to be in order. I then smiled and thought to myself all those years of my mother telling me to clean my room are finally starting to pay off.

We then started our exchange. This time around I went with the District leader Elder Clark and Elder Allen went with his companion Elder Larson. The night before I had planed out what I thought to be the best night ever, however, as the night wen on my plan fell to pieces. Then Elder Clark taught me a valuable lesson he said that it matters very little whether a plan is successful of not the most important thing is that you show forth you faith by prayerfully and spiritually planing out each day. He taught me that I must trust in the Lord and that when a plan doesn't go according I should prayerfully and faithfully seek his guidance so that he can inspire me through the promptings of the Holly Ghost.

Thursday Elder Clark and I bounced back and planned out a fairly good afternoon. We meet with some of the investigators we had found in the area book and we had much success. When the time came Elder Clark and Larsen went back to their area and Elder Allen and I finished out a our day with a wonderful evening full to the brim with teaching.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were a little rough because of a localized ice storm but we didn't let that stop us and we pressed forward in the work crying repentance unto all who would listen.

Sincerely
Elder Hurd
