I never thought I'd see the day when the snow would finally, granted we've had a little bit of sleet and rain, but nothing has stuck around this week. The weather has been nice and the sun has been shining. I almost forgot what it felt like to wear a short sleeve shirt. I thought I'd be wearing my thermals and sweaters and heavy coats all year round. We had 70 degree weather on Wednesday, and I got a little sunburned from tracting. I must say that was one of the worst winters I've ever been through. I thought I'd never see the grass again.
I feel sorry for the missionaries further north who have worse weather that we do here I don't even want to imagine what it must be like. I sure am grateful for the sun and the warmth it provides.
The Highlight of this last week would have to be our temple session on Thursday, it was nice to be able to go while I could. I hope I can go again sometime who knows what will happen. I might get to stick around a few more transfers. I hear that this is one of those areas where missionaries tend to stay for a while. Either way I have been enjoying my time here and I really love this area I feel like I have been growing the most here in River Falls.
Elder Cryer and I have been working very diligently to build our investigator pool we have taught more lessons in just one day than others manage to teach in one week. The hard part now is getting people to stick. This week I've learned that you can teach as many lessons as you want but unless you lovingly, boldly, and clearly extend invitations and commitments people generally won't understand who you are or what you're inviting them to do.
Detailed planning is another skill I've been learning to master. In the past I have learned that in order to be an effective planner you need a detail and balanced. There needs to be enough details to work with so that time, energy, and effort, can be effectively balanced in your day.
I want you to know that I am doing well and learning lots, till next week.
Love
Elder Hurd
