3rd week Rochester Minnesota

Here is Corey's email for his 3rd week out! We already found out where he was located from Katelyn Eberhard. She has a cousin in his area and they asked her if she knew him, and the answer was YES! Corey is about 70 miles from where Wayne Sumner grew up.

Also, he neglected to say that he sent us a haul of 8 handwritten letters to every member of the family and one to all of the family! Way to go Corey!

Now onto his email!

3rd Week - Rochester Minnesota

Oh my this place is awesome, it feels like forever since I had a P-day I think my last one was two Fridays ago. Anyway I'll try and sum up the past few days as best I can.

MTC: the rest of my MTC experience was good, We got to see L. Tom Parry at Tuesday devotional and he talked a lot about companionship's and companion study

Wednesday: Left the MTC at 2:00am, that was hard, then we rode on a buss all the way to the airport (sorry dad not the train). Then we waited for the plane and I saw Rob which I was honestly not expecting it was fun though he let me use his phone to call home. The plane ride was cramped and boring, we had a layover in Denver and that was also boring, we got to Minnesota Minneapolis where we met our Mission President, who is supper nice. He took us all of the way too Bloomington Minnesota where we had dinner and talked about the mission in the mission orientation. Afterwards we all congregated in one of the class rooms of the church, I think it was the relief society room, there we meet our trainers and parted ways for now. I will be able to see my old district in a few weeks when we meet again for new missionary training. So we all met our trainers and took off to our new zones, my trainer is Elder Harker from Rexburg Idaho who also went to BYU-I. I feel so bad for him because we had to drive an hour and a half to get all of the way to Rochester from Bloomington. It was so sad he was trying to talk to me on the drive to Rochester but I didn't get much sleep the night before so I was constantly nodding off in the car. We finally got to our apartment which is in the basement of an old lady in the ward called sister Anderson or Missy Anderson, who is one of the nicest old lady's you could ever meet and she's been hosting missionaries for eight years.

Thursday: This is when the real work began my companion and I got up and followed the normal missionary scheduled for the morning and spent our whole evening trying to follow up on potential investigators (PI) and less actives (LA) and that whole day we were trying to get an baptismal invitation extended to an investigator because President Clemence wanted us to get one with in the first 24 hours of us being our in the field. I was just about to give up on giving the invitation but then as we were going to meet a LA Jacinda Lovelace or cindy for short we met a very nice man named Keny who is very open and one of the only people that day who would listen to us. We extended the invitation to be baptized and we are now working with him to prepare him for the service on the 28 of December.

Friday/ Saturday: These were really hard days and the days that I learned that most people here are content with what they believe and are not very interested in hearing our message but we kept pressing forward, and talked and visited with everyone we could this is one of the nicest places I've ever been to the people are wonderful and very kind.

Sunday: Was my favorite day I got to meet the ward and have lots of fun with some of the children in the ward.

Sincerely Elder Hurd

P.S. Biking mission super fun and I'm losing weight sadly I'm not burning it off I'm freezing it off. Its so cold here.

P.S.S. Can you tell me were the Sumner's lived in Minnesota so I can find them.
